Asian Film Industry Network (AFIN)

Asian Film Industry Network (AFIN)

Asian Film Industry Network (AFIN) was born with the recognition of the necessity to develop a better environment for the film industry in Asia. It is a network of film organizations representing various film industries, purposed to promote the Asian film industry and to stimulate marketing overseas with a background of comprehending the cultural diversity in Asia.

After the concept was born in 2002 at the first AFIN Meeting in Pusan with Asian film industry professionals, it took three years to establish the network's direction and formation. During this period, AFIN succeeded in organizing several examples of co-promotion activities in certain film festivals, which lead to the idea of administrating it in more organized form. As a result, AFIN was launched on October 11th, 2005 at the 10th Pusan International Film Festival.

AFIN goals & aims

AFIN main goal is to establish a harmonious relationship with the countries in the region so as to contribute to the growth of the Asian film industry by co-operation, co-promotion, co-exchange, and co-production. It is, in a broader sense, an opportunity to find the authentic identity of Asia, to build reciprocal relations and to facilitate the cooperative growth of the endorsed members. AFIN also makes an effort to support the introduction of Asian films and culture to the rest of the world. The exchange of information about film industries and policies, co-promotion, and pursuing of international co-productions are among others the objectives hoped to be accomplished in cooperation with endorsed members.

The representatives of AFIN member organizations gather twice a year to discuss the current issues of Asian film industry market and share views on the possibilities for joint activities.
